Sunday School – Nurturing Young Hearts in Faith

“Let the children come to me, don’t stop them! For the kingdom of heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” St. Matthew 19:14

At St. George Indian Orthodox Church, Epping – Melbourne, our Sunday School is committed to the spiritual growth and faith formation of children from Prep to Year XII. Rooted in the rich traditions of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, our mission is to guide young hearts to live by the Word of God and embrace the Orthodox way of life. Through engaging lessons, prayerful activities, and community involvement, we strive to build a strong foundation in Christ for every child.

Sunday Classes

Sunday School classes are held every week after the Holy Qurbana, offering structured lessons for students from Prep to Year XII. Textbooks and teaching materials are provided to ensure a consistent and meaningful learning experience.

Teachers’ Fellowship and Training

Our dedicated team of teachers participates in regular training and fellowship activities, often joining in diocesan-level conferences and sessions for spiritual enrichment and instructional development.

Talent Show & Competitions

To encourage creativity and expression, we host unit-level competitions and talent showcases. These events provide opportunities for students to grow in confidence and celebrate their God-given talents. We also look forward to participating in diocesan-level competitions as they are announced.

Orthodox Vacation Bible School (OVBS)

Beginning October 2025, our parish will host the Orthodox Vacation Bible School, bringing together children for a time of fun, faith, and fellowship. The program will include Bible lessons, songs, crafts, and friendly competitions to foster joyful learning.

Annual Exams – Class X and XII

Students in Classes X and XII will participate in annual regional exams, with successful candidates receiving certificates of completion to acknowledge their dedication and learning.

Our Sunday School ministry thrives through the prayers, commitment, and collaboration of our priests, teachers, parents, and the entire church community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who support this important mission of raising a new generation rooted in Orthodox faith and love.

Let us continue to build a Christ-centred future - one child at a time.
